Our Favorite Athens Airbnb

This is a long due post and I owe a HUGE apology to Danai for the delay! 🙂

Urban Downtown 50m² Apartment, hosted jointly by Dimitris and Danai, is a cozy little apartment situated just a few blocks off Neos Kosmos. We’d booked the place well beforehand (the reviews were amazing!), and Danai was in constant touch with us for months leading up to the D-day. During our conversations with Danai, we learned that the apartment was a bare 10-minutes walk from Neos Kosmos metro station.

We took the metro from the Athens airport to Neos Kosmos. It was drizzling when we arrived, but the walk from to the apartment was short enough that we didn’t mind. Danai was waiting for us at the apartment. Might I mention, she’s just the most charming host ever! In a couple of minutes, we were handed over the keys of the place, told everything there was to know about the neighborhood, shown the facilities of the apartment, and given the WiFi password! 🙂

The apartment was just as we’d seen in the pictures. It’s a small one-bedroom place with a balcony overlooking the street, which was just perfect during the rains! The bedroom is equipped with a comfortable bed, beautiful lighting, and ample storage. The entrance of the apartment opens into a little hall that leads into the bedroom, which we used to store our bags and strew our things. To the right of the narrow passage that leads from the hall to the bedroom is the bathroom. It was spotless and well-stocked with towels, shampoos, and lotions.

We stayed here for one night before proceeding to Mykonos the following morning. That evening, we strolled around the streets; imagine our surprise when we found the Acropolis peeking up from behind some buildings just a few mins down the street!

We walked all around the Plaka area that evening and dined at a hidden, little gem called Klepsidra Cafe by the Acropolis. Overall, we spent a great evening here. The apartment’s proximity to the metro station ensured we didn’t have to wake up too early to catch our 7 am ferry 🙂 If you’re ever in Athens, definitely don’t miss Dimitris apartment!

P.S. Danai was gracious enough to help us with everything we needed to know about Athens and the islands. She gave us great tips on how to get around the city as well as guided us on commuting to Mykonos and Santorini.
