Growing up in Trivandrum, CDS was a fascinating expanse. It was a research institute on the outskirts of Trivandrum.
We arrived at Thiruvananthapuram one fine March – a couple of months too early to be enrolled at school. I was promptly put in a creche where a nice old lady kept an eye on me while my parents were away at work.
Looking back on the time we spent in the sleepy town of Trivandrum, most memories come into focus against a select few backdrops - our home, my parents’ workplace, my best friend’s house, and my school, curiously in that order. An unusual suspect on this list is Mohan kada (or Mohan’s shop), our friendly neighborhood grocer.
